PWI/EPOC grantee the Central California LGBTQ+ Collaborative for Well-Being is an association dedicated to Education, Advocacy, and Training for inclusion of all members of the community. The dedicated peer support specialists at the Collaborative reflect the community they serve—20% identify as transgender, 20% identify as nonbinary, 70% are Latinx, and 10% are Black. These peers provide a wide range of supports, ranging from simple activities like sharing a cup of coffee or getting a member a LYFT ride, to joining members at their medical appointments as they transition, helping them find shelter, or supporting them as they come out to their friends and family. All staff--from volunteers, administrative staff, Directors, to the CEO-- are trained as peer support specialists just in case their lived experience is called upon.
